Common issues

This is a list of issues that you may encounter, and their most common solutions.

Issue

The RX R/T indicator in StormVue NGX shows frequently red but not every time.

Solution

Increase Data update interval in Data Server. StormVue NGX will attempt to reload real-time data every 4 seconds. If your Data Server is set to update every 4-6 seconds and your FTP connection is sluggish the real-time data file will often be locked when StormVue NGX tries to access it.

Issue

In Declutter mode 5 the positions of storm cells on the StormVue NGX map do not match TRAC target positions in NexStorm.

Solution

This is expected with low intensity storm cells. NexStorm sends TRAC location data to Data Server only when there is a lightning strike occurring for a target. If there is a data read error in either Data Server or StormVue NGX occasional positional updates can be missed. If there is continued activity for a TRAC target the positions in StormVue NGX will become synchronized with those in NexStorm after a while.

Issue

Data Server is receiving data from NexStorm and is uploading it but no strikes appear on StormVue NGX map. The RX R/T indicator shows no data load failures (only blue indications). StormVue NGX view mode is set to Declutter 0 - Unfiltered.

Solution

You have most likely configured your location coordinates incorrectly. Location coordinates must be assigned in two places:

1. The Data Server - Latitude and Longitude

2. In the stormvue.xml configuration file for StormVue NGX, parameters <sensor_latitude> and

<sensor_longitude>. The coordinates provided to Data Server and stormvue.xml must match exactly.
